Another test, taken the day before his clenbuterol failure, has come back positive for a plasticising agent which is usually used in i.v. drip bags. The chemical itself isn't any help on the bike, but the fact that it has been found in such huge quantities (8 times what is allowed) adds a lot of weight to the prosecutor's case. Unless Contador's people can find a powergel wrapper or a bidon that has the same agent, and establish why only Contador would have been contaminated by this chemical, he will be facing two years out of the sport. I personally never bought the contaminated meat excuse, but this new test basically removes all reasonable doubt. The only way he can get off now is on a technicality, if for some reason the new, more sensitive, clenbuterol test isn't ratified by WADA.

non of his team mates were in an automatic testing position or picked for a random test on the day in question.

Related to the Contador fail, a female spanish rider has failed a drugs test too. Is this a case of the British Government finally having flogged all that BSE beef?
