Can Belgium do it?

Their back line may get absolutely battered once they hit the knockout stages. They have a fairly easy group (Russia will be a tough out), but to be paired with either Germany, Portugal, Ghana, or USA in the knockout stages, they might be done pretty early. Any of those squads has the ability to beat them.

The team I think can go pretty far is Bosnia. Tons of talent, easy group. They would be paired with either Switzerland, France, or Ecuador in the knockout stages which is fairly manageable.

Bet they dont make it through group stages..
Not looked great in recent games, going there with such high expectations. Fully expect them to flop and be on their way home early.

Last 4 results:

Belgium 1-1 Wales
Belgium 0-2 Colombia
Belgium 2-3 Japan
Belgium 2-2 Ivory Coast
no, be surprised if thet make it out of groups.

Every 4 years we have a nation that as a group of good players come through at the same time, means jack.

Belgium are no different

No chance they will fail to get out the group lads, they have Algeria, Russia and South Korea ffs, will take a good team to knock them out and will probably be the game of the tournament when they get play Argentina in the Quarters a bit like Romania vs Argentina years ago for those who remember it or Yugoslavia vs Spain

If they win their group, they are likely to play Portugal then Argentina then Spain to get to the Final.
If they finish runner up, they will likely have to play Germany, France then Brazil to reach the final.

No, they won't win it or even get to the final

Seriously doubt Spain will get at far as the semi's either though mate, if both win their groups they'll likely play Uruguay in the Quarters and that will be ADIOS

Maybe not. Who do you reckon will put them out?

Uruguay mate, so much of an advantage for the South American teams playing on home soil, and against Brazil in the confed Spain couldn't cope with the intensity and conditions, Uruguay will do a similar number on them

Theirs even the chance that Chile turn them over in the group meaning they will play Brazil last 16 round which will see them go out earlier

Possibly. Either way (and getting back to the main point) - Belgium won't get past whoever it is

Exceptional individual players, not sure there a team yet or have there tactics/selections sorted yet. Remind me a little of England from 10yrs ago.

As for Brazil WC I don't think they have a chance of winning it. European teams will really struggle in Brazil. The aging Spain will go out early IMO too.

The next euros and WC I see Belgium being serious contenders. Along with England (once all them oldies have been cast asside)

Belgium lack experience in international competitions so that could be a factor. Plus the Brazilian climate will make it horrendously difficult. I expect that the competition will be won by either Argentina or Brazil, my third and fourth favourites are Germany and Spain respectively.

I reckon Belgium will be extremely strong in euro 16 though so well worth a punt then.

Is right.

Winning the whole thing? Bah. We're going to snot them in the knockout.

USA USA USA.

Eh? What's this you say - Yanks aren't going to win their group? :red:

Belgium will make it into the last 16, but sadly no further. Great squad and of course the Everton connection too, would love them to upset Portugal/Germany, but can't see them getting that right. Portugal are going far, this is pretty damn close to a home world cup for them. Fancy them to top their group on GD - draw with Jerry and score more goals against the others.
