Not at all mate.

I was a football coach and radio specialist (long story!).

There are some people there who are like chefs etc... But if you're at uni odds are you'll be a counsellor of some sort. Either general or with a specialist area like I had.

Tell me more about the "Radio Specialist" thing

Well! It was initially bloody terrifying. But turned out totally boss.

Basically they hired me as a temp footy coach and perm radio specialist. So I went there knowing the football part would be easy, but having literally no idea what 'radio specialist' actually meant.

Still, wasn't arsed as it all sounded boss. So turned up and had a big meeting. It got to me and we had to talk about our plans and what we were going to do. Footy bit easy. Radio...erm...so I just asked what they wanted band basically it was running the camp radio show.

So the kids had like hour slots each day where they did the different activities around the camp. These go from canoeing to arts and crafts. And radio was in there! So in the hour I'd basically make a radio show with the kids and then it was aired during the kids lunch. Turned out pretty awesome.

We did all sorts. Sports shows, made jingles for the camp. And all of it I just made up as I went along.

You'd be great at this mate.

That sounds right up my street. Did you choose the role? Or did they just give it to you?

Chose it mate.

Basically when you apply you tell them what you specialise in and then they interview you and see if they like you.

Was quite tough but totally worth it.

That sounds ace, I'll definitely consider it at some point in the future

I went in between my 2nd and 3rd year mate.

As long as you've done some prep for your final year before you go I reckon that's the best time to do it.

(I know this because I didnt)

Right okay thanks, work experience is part of my course so I may look at it when that comes around, which is between 2nd and 3rd year
