Anybody got any really nice cake recipes? My daughter is doing cookery in School and has got the cooking bug, so at the weekend, we are gonna bake some cakes and all that jazz. But im pretty bad when it comes to cooking and my Missus doesnt really know any recipes.

Ive had a look on the internetwebs, but maybe somebody has their own special thing we could try.

If so, it has to be fairly idiot proof, cos as said, I aint got a clue with regards cooking.

A nice fudge or sponge cake would be superb.

Already got some flapjacks and sponge cake recipes ready to go.

We have a great Sour Cream Chocolate cake recipe! You can make either muffins or a two layer cake out of it. Its seriously yummy and the frosting is to die for! Ask Dylan, he has been known just to make up the frosting and just eat it off a spoon:D

Its quite simple to make too. Let me know if your interested and I'll PM you the recipe! (y)

Give me a few hours. I have to think about making lunch soon before the kids turn on me! During Nap time I'll get it too you!

Hey no problem, I dont need it till the Weekend and I feel your child pain, I have 3 of the little critters myself.

Im off to pick mine up from School, my day is about to end!

Classic Victoria Sponge.

110g (4oz) Butter
110g (4oz) Caster Sugar
110g (4oz) Self-raising Flour
2 Eggs
Vanilla Essence or 1 tsp Grated Lemon Rind

Preheat oven to 190°C: 375°F: Gas 5.
Whisk together the butter and sugar until light and creamy.
Add the beaten eggs gradually with a little of the flour.
Fold in the remaining sieved flour and add the flavouring.
Divide equally between two 15cm (6 inch) sandwich tins.
Bake for 20 - 25 minutes.
Turn out on to a wire rack to cool.
Jam and Cream in the middle.

Send us some if it turns out ok mate.(y)

Spot on WhiteBootMan, but Gas Mark 4! Orange rind is equally awesome. Or you could add 1oz cocoa powder for a chocolate mix! And chocolate chips - as many as you like! Good luck

Nice1 Whitey lad, will defo give that a try, my weekends will now be full of cake making, I love CAKES!!!!!

Erm, how do you make the cream that goes in the middle?

Have to second this recipe. Exactly the same as I do, but I use 8oz of everything, and 4 eggs. More cake mix to lick see?

Stork and Icing sugar I think.

Get a big slab of the margerine, and just keep adding icing sugar while mixing it up. Can't really go wrong.

i'd get her making really stodgy chocolate brownies, and hope she enjoyed it and kept on making them.

important that you pick something you like, for when you taste it.

p.s. let cold black coffee soak into the mix before putting in oven apparently.
