After the Chelsea match several commentators noted that Cahill and Lampard are two of the best goal scoring midfielders around. With his two goals today however, Cahill has scored six goals in six starts this season, a quite phenomenal return for a midfielder.

compare their league scoring records this season:

ribery has 2 goals in 12 appearances

cahill has 3 goals in 4 appearances.

not even a comparison.

cahill is better than that selfish **** lampard, and while in all fairness it must be said that even for an attacking midfielder he does seem to play further up in more of a striking mould than most midfielders, i believe he's unparalleled right now at what he does. class from the boxing aussie!

Posdsibly Scholes in th eprem, but hes in his decline. Scholes is a bit more a complete midfielder than Top Cat

I'll give you Scholes in his prime, but right now, at this very moment? I can't think of many, if any at all that are more effective in that role.

it's not just TC's goals, he's a decent footballer and his effort is unbelievable, he's as good as anything around to me, but agree Scholes is an all time great

don't know about assists, but cahill grabs more goals.

i certainly didn't mean he was the best of all time by my post, just that right now i couldn't see another player fulfilling quite the role that he does.

Cahill cahill can only be described as a 'busy' midfielder. He runs around linking up with passes, plays the full width of the pitch, wins heasers, his forward runs are great, his positioning is great, and his finishing is improving too. Cahill will be vital to us this season along with arteta, and i have no doubt there iwll be a few transfer rumours about him twoards teh end of the season.

At the moment cahill is one fo the best at everton, and one of the best players everton have had.

Spot on Domn, exactly what I was thinking. In a way he`s the heart and soul of the team as he also has an extra level of drive and energy. Future legend right there.
