I'm doing some mandatory training today.

Apparently it's not ethical to

1. Offer a job/promotion in exchange for sexual favours
2. Bring firearms to work
3. Drink alcohol at your desk
4.take illegal substances
5.use company money for political purposes.

Damn...

Ethics in business are vital from my perspective. If you treat your customers, suppliers and most importantly your work force in an ethical, honest and considerate manner then business is easy.

That doesn't mean you can be taken for a fool, in fact the exact opposite. Being ethical and honest allows you to state your proposition and price very firmly as you, your suppliers and customers know you can deliver.

I agree, that's because of their owners - the institutions whom have only one objective maximise profits for dividends and share price performance. It's extremely difficult to be ethical in a public company, private companies can obviously follow the wishes and ideals of their owners. Personally I think an ethical approach enhances your business, it actually adds to the bottom line in the long term.
