Afternoon fellow nerds - Looking for a cheap, reliable laptop for studying/general internet browsing/grumble flick watching

Not bothered about battery life, how portable it is, don't want a touchscreen or a Chromebook or anything for gaming - Just something quick and basic for under £500

Any suggestions?

Depending where you are, check out Henry's Laptops in Warrington, he's a really good guy for laptops and he's not a rip-off merchant either.

Just make sure it has an i5 or greater processor and 8 gb ram. I bought a budget HP laptop a few years back and it had the amd equivalent of the i3 and it is utter dross. I bought my wife a lenovo one this year for about £420 and it is fast and does the job.

Cheers lads - I've been looking at AMD Ryzen processors (seems to be the best type nowadays) but struggling to decide on one - Every laptop i've bought over the past 6-7 years has just eventually slowed to a crawl due to Windows processes

Do you know which Lenovo model you bought the wife?

It was a 15.6" Lenovo ideapad 330S i5, 8gb ram and 256GB SSD. It's currently showing as 674.99 and out of stock where I bought it from but I got it for way less than that.

Which reminds me, if you can wait another 7 odd weeks it will be Black Friday/CM so worth hanging on if you can.
