Cant really disagree with anything he's written. I used to watch a lot of games on ITV but don't have access to BT and haven't bothered to watch a single match all season, or even highlights. Same goes for mates of mine. No one i know is arsed about it any more.

Out of sight out of mind.

Definitely out of sight out of mind. This bit I thought amusing:

"Low ratings may be sold as a BT Sport problem, but that fails to address the real issue: A decline in interest in continental football. It may have been at least partly a predictable reaction to bad news, but Sky Sports head Barney Francis revealed the decline in Champions League viewers in 2014/15.

“Over the last five seasons we have seen Champions League audiences fall 38%,” Francis said. “Last season, we saw our lowest ever average match audience.”

That's why a European super league would never take off.

That's exactly why I hope a super league games off. These dullards will go off and think the world wants to see their drab brand of passball, whereas they'll be the sporting equivalent of Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5.

Meanwhile, the proper clubs flourish.

The best bit would be when they eventually come crawling back with their tails between their legs.

Oddly enough, I was going to post sommat similiar myself.

Absolutely spot on.

I am not a great CL lover but enjoyed it on Sky.

I have BT but I just can't be bothered watching the CL on it at all.

It mystifies me how BT, such a behemoth in the technology sector of business, have managed to come up with such poor coverage of football.

I don't watch any other sports on it so I can't comment on the standard of their rugby coverage.

I wonder what the rugged buggers make of that.

It would be interestingly amusing to see how live attendances have shaped up over the years, group stages and the knock-outs. Probably gone down like it has for those watching Celebrity Big Brother.

Michael Owen and Glen Hoddle in the commentary, with some other halfwit, promoting some agenda or other. In Owen's case Benteke, Hoddle's Lallana. David James, Savage are other reasons it is poor. McManaman is tolerable and sometimes makes some good points.

I too have got BT Sport as part of my Virgin package, but find the commentary and punditry on Prem, FA Cup, CO Cup and CL to be at best dire, and at worst, downright biased and one-eyed.
If Virgin ever say they can no longer provide it free, then I would ditch it in a heartbeat.

Shame really as I quite enjoy watching the other European domestic leagues as with no leaning towards either team in most games, one can 'block' out the commentary and just enjoy the games visually.

I am currently watching the CL highlights, probably the first time I have watched any of it in about 4 or 5 years.
It's a shame, I used to get up at 3:00 to watch live games but just don't have the interest any more

I watch basketball on BT.

It decent, probably because it's mainly supplied by US networks, so no actual British involvement.

Anyone who pays David James actual real money for his opinion about football is clearly either biased, one of his creditors or utterly incompetent.

Their actual coverage of basketball when it is in the UK is terrible. They have Darren Fletcher who is clueless and some proper strange woman as the sideline reporter and just interview footy players all game.
