Tories are afraid of electoral reform as it will make safer seats for them more difficult to find (which is why they oppose it). I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Gordon Brown for his work as both Chancellor and Prime Minister. Not all his policies have been to my liking (personally, I believe he had too great a faith in using the private sector to act as the basis for social equality), but he's a good man with the same type of levelling principles as the giants who formed the Labour Party...still the most progressive mainstream party on these islands.

And what a dignified speech to let go the reins of power.
