Hmmm...

Maybe the Liberal democrats will speak to labour a bit more now

The respectful thing to do, better for the party. A good man, but unfortunately they don't succeed very well in politics.

Possibly done to strengthen chances of a Lib Dem alliance?

I think so. I think I can remember Clegg saying he's work with Labour, but not Brown

So, the man no one wanted has finally done the right thing and moved on. Tories are afraid of electoral reform as it will make safer seats for them more difficult to find (which is why they oppose it). But a Labour Libdem co-op isn't enough without some minor party help so even then the horse trading takes an exponential turn.
Bye bye Gordon, take your 'bigot' remarks, bullying, sleaze merchants, and economic scullduggery with you.
Whichever Milliband odds on for the Labour hotseat?

You all stand corrected, he has not resigned as yet but will oversee negotiations. His wording was for the party to elect a new leader by the time of the conference in I think September. He will remain as PM for a few months yet.

I'm gonna be in limbo for ages here wondering what's so terrible that I'd be resigned to it.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Gordon Brown for his work as both Chancellor and Prime Minister. Not all his policies have been to my liking (personally, I believe he had too great a faith in using the private sector to act as the basis for social equality), but he's a good man with the same type of levelling principles as the giants who formed the Labour Party...still the most progressive mainstream party on these islands.

And what a dignified speech to let go the reins of power.

Thanks Big Man.
