England didnt actually qualify for 4 tournaments in a row, did they?

66. Hosts
70. Holders
74. Failed
78 Failed.

I think England were alright in '66

The Portugal game and the Final were both exciting matches

I didn't think they were overly defensive. Yeah, the match with Uruguay ended 0-0, but that was because Uruguay parked the bus. The Mexico and France games saw a lot more attacking football from the English side. Argentina were more interested in kicking England off the park than playing any football in the Quarter

England played as well as they could. They were by no means the best team in the tournament and they probably wouldn't have won if it hadn't been played at home.

You can say that for lots of World Cup Winners though. Germany in '74, Argentina in '78 and even France in '98 to a certain extent

At least the Lions give the SH teams a go in Union. In football a Lions side would still be rubbish. There's only one world class player in British football right now, and that's Bale. The rest are pretty average on a world stage.

If Wales actually had something to go on about, I'd say they'd go on about it. But they don't.
