Im not going to say you're wrong, because after all we're just talking about personal taste, but i'd argue that guitar music has significantly regressed from its pinnacle of the 70s. Electronics have advanced, but there's nig a single solitary electronic instrument i'd prefer to hear over and above even the cheapest analogue one. The uniqueness and depth of sound, and individual sonority of the device can never be replicated by a synth etc. To me the electronics lack soul and interest. This coming from a yoof who liked Jean Michel Jarre, Phaedra and Vangelis in the day. Very quickly tired of it.

I love Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis, I also love Waters and Gilmour during their prog rock era, but you are so very wrong about guitar music regressing in the 80`s.

Three of the finest guitarists our country has ever produced came from the 80`s

Johnny Marr > Smiths / Solo

Porl Thompson > the Cure.

Will Sergeant > Echo and the Bunnymen / Solo.

I know I said it's all down to personal taste, and there's no right or wrong, but oh boy, where do I start with that!!

Outside now!

You could add Robin Guthrie, Geordie from Killing Joke, Roddy Frame, all benefitted ironically from advanced technology to advance guitar playing.
