Wilder came out of the Southampton academy. What a set up that was. He was in the same team as LeTissier and Phil Parkinson (another high rated manager) and just before Shearer. Another in his team Steve Davis went on to be assistant to Owen Coyle at Bolton in the Premier league. Other players that came through there are names such as Bale, Oxlade Chamberlain, Walcott, the Wallace brothers and Dennis Wise. They get them in young and teach them the right way. Arguably the third best youth academy in Europe behind Ajax and Barcelona over the past 30 years.
