Bright Young Things

Mustafi has really impressed me in the academy - very cultured player who i expect to step up.

Haven't seen him much but on the few occasions I have seen him he has been absolutely outstanding. Rated highly at international level too - in a very good German youth system. Very high hopes for him.

The young players bubbling under the surface are the only thing that makes me feel really positive about our future at the minute. I can see them doing something special in the next few years as Moyes hand will be forced by lack of cash and older players dropping off.

I think we may have found the next big thing in english football in Barkley, not just because of his blatantly obvious ability, but because he's clearly got the mentality to be a great. It's early but I predict a statue.

We've got a nice mix of youth and experience now and could even put a side out with 8 or 9 players under the age of 24 and give most teams a hiding.

Anyone else starting to think maybe Baxter would benefit from some playing time in the Championship? Just like Osman did when he was starting out

I think the majority of the younger fringe would benefit from 3-6 months of championship football. They nearly always come back better for it. Can't believe mustafi and Baxter haven't gone out this year and that Duffy has gone to league 1, He's already an international FFS

I think Gueye has enough about him to be a useful player. He's a decent size, has good technique and is fairly quick. He's also versatile, having played on either wing and as a second striker, so there's options for him. He doesn't have to be tied down to one position. His right foot needs alot of work though, some players can get away with it but he's not on that level. If he doesn't develop that side of his game then there's a chance he'll become predictable and easy to defend against. He could learn alot from Saha in this area, who's excellent either either foot.

As for Duffy, I think his 'talent' is a bit of a myth to be honest.

You're spot on about Gueye mate. And he seems to worship Saha so hopefully he will try and emulate him!

Only one way to find out about Duffy IMO, I'd have done a sink or swim loan for 4 months
