What a great touch for Forest to celebrate their fantastic manager who passed away 15 years ago on 20 September.
A round of applause on 15 minutes, fans wearing his iconic green jumper, Cloughie's image on the screen.
What a great way to celebrate such a great man.
Howard Kendall Day anybody???

Clough was a flawed individual, but a superb manager

There's a video on YouTube of his final game in management,

Sad to watch, to be honest. I don't understand why Forest allowed him to continue to manage the club, given his obvious struggles with drink.

My Grandad really didn't like him, he did say what got forgotten due to early retirement and his success as a manager was how good of a footballer he was.

His treatment of Justin Fashanu leaves a sour taste for me, if he could do it again you would hope he would behave in a more enlightened manner

Funny that, my old man met him once, cant remember why or how, and he did not take to him one jot. And my Dad generally gets on with all sorts.

And yeah, his ability as a striker, whilst before my time, was pretty remarkable.

edit. Ahhh, got it. My Dad always managed to get me tickets for the Wembley finals in the 80s, and they always had a stamp thing on the back showing what FA they came from. And they were always Nottinghamshire Referees Association! Never made the link till just a few seconds ago ffs.

Met him in our hotel after the CWC Final,he was decent enough, chatted football, said he would love to have Sharpy in one of his sides, was very complimentary about the football club and the city and got a round in before he went to his room, have to say he wasnt the type of person you would choose as a friend, might just be the way he spoke but always felt like he was above you,I wonder how he would have coped with the stars of today

Dunno really. Like his reputation was with unfashionable clubs, and the first time he encountered a new dressing room of top established players was at Leeds, which didnt end well. Then thinking of the 2 players that are closest to the current crop of players, time wise, Keane and Pearce, they were both cut from a similar cloth, both started their proper pro career as unknowns under him, and both revere him.

I just cant see any of the "old school" managers having the same success in todays game, you only have to see the way they can stop playing for teams if the manager upsets them
