I'd say Saurez is a false number 9 - but only 'false' in the sense of the word as 'wrong' and 'fake'.

A number 9 isnt anything other than a traditional number given to a forward. Any type of forward but usually a goalscoring one.

Barcelona can make up terms for their style of play, as they're truly unique. They can call Messi what they like, as he's the Worlds greatest player & has no real comparable in the game at present.

Rodgers plays 4-3-3 & his current central striker, isn't disciplined enough to play the role & has a 12% conversion rate, so isn't a natural goalscorer anyway. By associating him with Messi he's trying to do 2 things, firstly make out (wrongly) that he's got the shiite playing the same way as Barcelona & secondly directly compare Suarez with Messi. It's yet more Brent'esque bollocks from him. On Friday he had a right back that was 'world class' even though he's been playing him at left back, & come Sunday Suarez had somehow earned comparison with Messi & the shiite are set up like Barcelona. It's hilarious.

The finances aren't going to change in January.

The finances aren't going to change next summer either, not unless they sell Suarez for £25m/£30m, and give Rodgers all the money to re-invest. Which is doubtful, because if they win nothing, finish mid-table and aren't in Europe next season, money will be ridiculously tight for transfers, let alone to be put aside for the near-mythical £100m+ Anfield redevelopment that probably won't ever happen.

They'll probably win the FA Cup and thus get into Europe again next season.

but they have fringe players to sell, downing (8m) henderson (8m) carroll (18m already turned down in summer).
add to west ham paying 1m and carrolls wages thats 5m over a season for the loan. warrior sports deal worth an extra 13m a season in comparison to adidas, joe cole probably leave for free after this season saving 90k a week in wages jay spearing 2-3m. increased tv money ETC

this season they should have 60m or thereabouts without the owners having to put a penny in, lets say the owners take 20m of that, its still 40m

They're not going to get anywhere near £8m for Henderson or Downing. They're in such a bad negotiating position. He's already pretty much written off Henderson to the point he offered him AND cash for Clint Dempsey, who was valued at £5m, and Fulham turned that down as they didn't fancy Henderson.

Downing has fell out with the club and clearly wants out. They may get £6m ish for him, not much more. Who is he going to join who he'll improve and have the money to spend big on him?

Not only that, they can't sell too many fringe players as they'd have no squad. They're already playing youth players over the top.

Plus, they have no money. None. Or rather, the owners aren't going to plow it in - highlighted by the reluctance to finance an extra £1m for Dempsey in the summer.

Carroll's wages etc. have simply funded Nuri Sahin (£5m loan fee for the season, plus all of his wages believe it or not - http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/909566-liverpool-guzump-arsenal-for-nuri-sahin-loan)

And they've paid that loan fee with little to no prospect of signing him permanently:

So they have to sell a major asset to gain funds, rather than fringe players for next to nothing.

My bet is Pepe Reina. I think they'll look to get £20m from a Spanish club for him; they're already clearly grooming Brad Jones for the first team picture.

in regards to demspey I just dont think the owners wanted a 29 year old with no sellon value , they had a 8m offer for siggurdson turned down but cant get 6 for dempey???? doesent make sense. think they offered adam for dempsey and only henderson on loan thats why it was rejected.

but still even if you downgrade downing and henderson to 6m each and the 5m for the carroll loan thats still 50m.

the warrior sport deal and the sale of carroll will net them 30m alone

Brendon wants Butland and is trying to push Reina out

Let's face it Dixie, you..... sorry, they'll spunk the money on ****e again.

No way theyll have £50m to spend, absolutely no way, Rodgers this week was hinting that he wont have too much to spend.

Why would Huntelaar leave a team in the CL for a side fighting to be in the top 10 in England?
