Thoughts? I was all for resigning him before and a little after the WC but now I'm not so sure it was a good idea. Its not that I don't think he's a good coach its just that its pretty apparent that he didn't really want the job and wanted to go to England. I've never really seen a coach have success when he's taking a job not because its available but b/c it was the best option he had.
That being said I don't know if Klinsmann would do well here. For all intensive purposes he also got kind of lucky at the WC with Germany. The German national team was terrible in the run up in 06 and they may have not made it past the group stages if they didn't have home field. Plus the USMNTs problem wasn't scoring goals or lack of excitment, it was defensive lapses. Not shoring up the D is what doomed him at Bayern. I do think there are a handful of players who could benefit from having Klinsy though. I think Bornstein could be one of our best players in Klinsmann's system. Holden and perhaps Torres could have benefited as well.
Due to lack of money he wouldn't finish as high as MON but I actually think he would have done well at Villa. They play the kind of counterattacking footie that the USMNT plays. However being American if he wants to go to Europe he will probably have to cut his teeth in the Championship. Sadly if Sven did what Bradley at the world cup (which is pretty much just do what was expected of the team) multiple clubs would idiotically be against each other for his services.
