First time watching the series last night and I must say I was absolutely blown away by it. It's a shame nothing like that is commissioned by the beeb anymore. Anyone else a fan?

I think it's a bit dated now, some of the accents are woeful too, but it's pretty good programming from a bygone age.

The scenes at the Albert Dock just shows how far we've come as a city since that time.

One Summer is a good watch too.

Fantastic stuff! There was a earlier one off play of it, was just called 'The Blackstuff'. I thought that was even better.
Watched 'Our Day Out' recently, all I kept thinking was... 'you dirty robbing little scalls', switched it off halfway through.

I have the box set, and although dated, it's still top telly.

That's actually the only clip I've seen from it, shown by my dad a few months back. Bizarre stuff.
