Try living here and NOT being a Cardinals fan.

I can imagine. The Cardinals are the only thing in the entire city worth being cheering about!

I kid. I'm from Milwaukee. Throwing stones, glass houses, etc.

Big fan of the City Museum personally, but I'm bringing kneepads next time.

I don't know why but for the past two weeks i've had a sinking feeling in my gut that liverpool are somehow going to win the title this year, they may not have an amazing squad but they have two fantastic strikers who score for fun and everyone else in the league is in transition... i honestly fear the worst.

Now then, I haven't negged you but you need to take yourself outside and have a strong word with yourself. Please feel then to come back in and continue posting.

In baseball attendence is up but its actually suffering. The avg age of a fan is like 50 and climbing. You'll notice no blacks on baseball teams anymore because young blacks don't play baseball (MLB is actually trying to fix this unsuccessfully, its a shame too baseball is an easier ticket out than basketball that's for sure). This was supposed to be a highly rated WS with 2 big teams and the ratings were smaller than the basketball finals. Just 30 years ago basketball finals weren't even on the tele.

As for the red sox. Fanbase is more nausating than the Cardinals, which is sayin something.

Well said, Rook. First rate explanation of the state of the game. Agree on almost all counts - as a Cubs fan, my position is always ABC. Anyone But Cardinals. Also - who will deliver us from from Buck and McCarver?

They're just not that good. A lot of that winning RS team (see what I did there?) was built by Theo, and we sure hope he hasn't lost his touch. Pitchers and catchers report to Mesa in about 100 days.

The clock is ticking, Theo.

Here's the thing. EVERYONE (boys) plays little league baseball. Everyone. The other sports split things up. Some play football in the fall, some play soccer, some play nothing. Not everyone plays basketball by a long shot as youth teams at the lower ages don't exists in many places until you get to middle school.

So in that sense, yeah it is, despite what people end up following as an adult, just about every single male has played baseball and knows the game at a minimum level.

So everyone understands baseball analogies for example, moreso than basketball or gridiron? And as such is part of the fabric of the nation?

Sox fan here, horribly hung over. Great night.

Incidentally, when picking an EPL team, the Sox played a part.

In 2011 they fired the manager, Terry Francona after a late season collapse (mostly due to their entire pitching rotation being injured) ... rather than treat him with class "Thanks for leading the team to two World Series titles in 7 years after an 86 year drought. We think it's time to head in a different direction.", they threw him under the bus and started making all sorts of accusations about prescription pill abuse, him being distracted as his son was serving in Afghanistan (reverse, he threw himself into the job as it was the only thing to get his mind off it) ... treated him like crap.

I have been a lifelong fan of the franchise, but after that I hate the ownership group.

The fact that Creepy is a partial owner or whatever of Everton's rival was just another check in the "plus" column.

And yeah, the fanbase is a mixed bag of massholes, pink hats, and actual fans - the later group still feel like they've won the lottery.

as another sox fan, I agree with everything you just said. Dr. Creepy and his gang hiring Bobby Valentine really solidified my opinion of those guys. Absolute scumbags.
