You are not special. You're not a beautiful and unique snowflake.

Speak for yourself, mate!

Some proper weird responses in here.

I've always taken the slogan to mean that it's not easy to support Everton, so you've got to be a special kind of person to do it. Of course it's marketing, and of course it could apply to other clubs, but I don't really see the harm in it.

There is a difference between Everton and Liverpool fans in terms of the way we support our clubs. I've got plenty of mates who are reds, and they're all sound. We have loads in common, and like mostly the same stuff. When it comes to the match though, we're polar opposites. They're all for wearing shirts, scarves, badges etc, and think waving flags and banners and singing along to tuneful songs is what makes a great atmosphere. I'm totally different, never wear colours, the thought of making a banner makes me cringe and I think the atmosphere is all about the hum of the place, the roar when we cross the half way line on a counter, the intimidation of the opposition when taking throw ins and corners. They go into games like last night telling all and sundry that they're going to win, while i will usually go into hiding in the run up to a big game, going over all the possible ways that we could lose.

To use a religious analogy, I tend to think of Liverpool fans being like some sort of fanatical cult where they're all convinced they're the special ones and they tell everyone who will listen that that's the case. Everton fans tend to be more like the type of people who don't really believe in God, but go to church every week anyway - either out of habit, or because they have that nagging fear that he might exist, and they wouldn't want to miss out if he did.

Obviously we're not all exactly the same, but I do think that certain types of clubs appeal to certain types of people. I think that's what the quotes are getting at.

If the RS are a religion, they're totally those 'testify!' Weirdos with their blind faith for some evangelical idiot in their massive concrete churches.
