I'm going away camping and staying in a farmhouse without tv for the next week on Tuesday.

I'm rereading American Psycho because its my favourite book and its been six years at least since i read it last.

I'm open to suggestions, not a fan of autobiographies though. Unless its a proper deviant like David Niven.

Always recommend my favourite book The Shadow of the Wind.

Other than that, To Kill a Mockingbird for a classic and The Skeleton Cupboard if you're at all interested in psychology.

Reading Under The Dome by Stephen King at the moment, before the telly series muppets spoil it for me. Very good so far.

Great crime thriller about the Tex-Mex border is "Power of the Dog" You'll dig it if you like crime novels. Along those lines, "Don't fear the Reaper" is a hilarious crime novel along the lines of Carl Hiassen.

Last summer I read "The Orphan Master's Son" an amazing novel about life in North Korea, probably among the best books I've read in the last 5 years.

I also read "The Dog Stars" A really nicely done novel about post-apocalyptic (post plague) life in the US. If you are familiar with "The Road" then check this out. Heartbreaking, yet very compelling.

Another memorable book is "City of Thieves" written by David Benioff (who is the chief writer for Game of Thrones). An amazing story that takes place during the siege of Stalingrad; two Russian soldiers are caught out after curfew and instead of being shot, they must find 6 eggs for the colonel's daughter's wedding cake. Really well done. And you only realize that it's a love story after you've finished it.

"Gone Girl" is a great thriller by Gillian Flynn. Great page-turner.
