"When I make an offer for a player, I'd like to think it's in the right ball park," said Coyle on Friday.

"But this wasn't even close. I'm only passing it on as a third party, but the word derisory doesn't even cover it."

Ha ha Sky saying they bid around 6m

Arsenal must be sniffing some strong glue

He is deluded, fair enough its the last year of his contract which would lower the value, but the way he moans about the low value bids he receives for his players are laughable. If true, was he really expecting a yes? Seems a waste of time

Thats what I dont get

Does he really think Bolton will go "oh go on then you pedo have him for 6m"

Hope they fall out of the top 4 this year with there "perfect" football

This is from the guardian:

Arsene Wenger swears blind that he has not offered a derisory £6m for Gary Cahill. 'It's not true,' he said. 'You can believe me or Phil Gartside. You are free, absolutely, to think what you want. I just tell you it's not right.' Follow-up question: Was the figure lower than £6m, then? 'You know me very well.' Wenger replied.

All clubs do it, its business.

You moan when other clubs do it (Man City, Lescott) yet do it yourself (Everton, Moutinho).

Start low, settle middle.

Baffled by Wenger... I mean, is he on his own planet where everything is on offer for 25% of the actual price or something?

I honestly thinks he lowballs offers becuase he doesn't really want to buy anyone just to satify the fans. 6M for Cahill is redonkulous. Never knew he was worse than Johnson and Dann.

Why he let Nasri go for 25M is beyond me. That was City, he could have gotten almost twice that much.

Liverpool's owner, John Henry, was upfront about this activity in an interview yesterday in the Telegraph:

What has surprised you? Shocked you?
Well, the transfer system and how it works is a shock if you’ve come from American sports. The fact that a guaranteed contract means very little when another club decides that they want your player is surprising. The player suddenly “has to go.”
This is an advantage for big clubs such as ours and I’m getting used to it, but it was a shock to find out that the guarantee only works one way.
