Bolton £163m in debt

They have really up to date corporate facilities which are all empty on match days now they are out of the Prem, shame really.

This is the price of football these days. You don't come straight back up and this happens, considering the financial problems of other teams who stayed relegated from the Premier league it is not a suprise that the club cannot turn themselves into a well funded club without compensating on the pitch.

i can imagine a few years down for Wigan will see them almost collapse without the premier league money.

they were loads in debt before they went down, so much for being under the stewardship of Gartside who's on the fa board 'looking after' our game (or was).

Bolton didn't even go for the Elite Academy Status, which considering that the Bolton Bury Junior League is often touted as the benchmark for other leagues, and regularly gets voted as 'the best,' seems crazy given the amount of potential future players on their doorstep as if they develop the kids then they are due payouts from any club that then gives them a pro contract further down the line.

The debt is owned by Eddie Davies, who is effectively the owner of the club. Instead of injecting cash into the club as capital, he's given it to the club as debt. This allows him to charge interest to the club on his "investment," to the tune of about 7 million last year. He's not American, so I'm sure he gets a pass on this. The debt is now interest free, which sounds like he's benevolent but you wouldn't charge 7 million in interest per year if you have to put in another 30 million to make the cash work.

The debt isn't as concerning as losing 30 million in revenue from being relegated.

He's a confident get if he thinks there's much chance of seeing £160M back off Bolton FC...sounds like either benevolence or stupidity to me
