It's -16c here today (with wind chill, my weather station out on the balcony reads -24.4c) but we've already reached as low as -25c this winter. Over in Siberia, Yakutsk is presently showing -44c.

To be brutally honest, there's not that much difference once you reach -10c or so. Your cold as fook then anyway, so the additional degrees colder don't seem that harsh - your body is already reacting and trying to cope once you're into the -10 bracket. It always feels a lot worse - colder - when the winter kicks in, and you get the first wave of sub-zero and icy winds. Once the worst comes around Dec, Jan, Feb you're usually acclimatised and it doesn't feel so bad.

But you can get complacent - I do a few times every winter. Only yesterday, I stepped of the aircraft on arrival back here and mooched off and onto the waiting bus to the terminal. I didn't even bother putting hat, gloves etc on despite it being -16c. Had a killer headache by the time I got home, though (n)
Be cafeful you don`t get your helmet stuck on a dustbin lid if you ever pIss outside.
