Disappointed this was a real link and didn't involve humping hyenas of any kind.
So is Bob Geldof.

Would that have made as much money tho? Or got as much awareness? People will buy this just because it's Band Aid. It's like Coca Cola or McDonalds, and I don't think writing a new song would have been as sucessfull.
Is it tho? Do you really think there were people there, about to book flights to Lagos, or invest in some company over there, who heard the song and suddenly decided not too? I'm pretty sure the only people who would actually have their opinions of Africa amended by this song would never have gone there in the first place.
But its not just about people booking flights etc. It's an outdated and quite frankly ludicrous idea that Africa is this horrendous place with nothing going for it, where the local people need us as some kind of saviours. The only way that African countries are able to flourish is through a sustained economic growth which is bought about by tourism and investment going up and not by a rehashed song being wheeled out every ten years in which they get a quick handout of cash only for the image of the countries within Africa to be completely tarnished once more.

Given this a bit more thought.
I thank @Tubey for educating me a bit on parts I didnt know about.
But is it all bad? I get that there's defo a part of Geldof giving his ego a boost and such but it's not like a bad way of doing it. Or is it? I don't know.
Like the X-Factor appearance. Surely that was a good thing to bring Ebola into the mainstream and people who don't have a clue might just have learned something from that?
And surely if even 10p of the record sales went to help this diseases being snotted then that's good? Isn't it?
I don't know anymore. But happy to read people's thoughts.
Good points, but how much investment revenue could this cost Africa, so this could be a bad thing. And we don't need to hear a song about Ebola, Most educated people know about Ebola.
