He was a decent coach and Bob Bradley did a lot of good for the National team. He was the coach of a team that finished 2nd in the Confed Cup, defeating Spain on the way there. That win definitely put the team in a bit bigger national spotlight, then the 1st place group finish at the WC did a bigger job as well.

However Bob's biggest problem was his loyalty to some players. Players which, in my opinion, don't have the quality to play for the National side. Bornstein, Ricardo Clark in the WC, and even Robbie Findley to an extent, are a few examples of players who probably don't have any business starting games for the US side. The Gold Cup final is a perfect example. When Cherundolo got hurt, El Tri went right after Bornstein's flank, turning it into swiss cheese. Carving paths to goal with seemingly little resistance.

His tactics were a bit suspect too, most evident by starting games poorly and then having to claw back down a goal or so. Another big indictment on Bradley's record.

I'm not going to tell you that Michael Bradley shouldn't be starting, and that his place is only due to nepotism. I, honestly, believe that regardless of who is coach for the USA, Bradley is on the team. Whether he be starting or on the bench, he is a member of the squad. There were probably some games where Edu would've been a better option than Bradley, but that argument is going to be null and void soon because Jermaine Jones isn't getting any younger and by next WC cycle I expect Bradley and Edu to be starting in the middle of the park.

Am I sad to see Bradley go? No. He needed to go after the WC. He did a good job for us, but two term national coaches don't always pan out so well. I appreciate the work he did for the team, because I like to think the squad is in a better place than when he took over for Arena.

I'm very curious to see who takes over. Andres Cantor has tweeted that he has some strong rumors that Marcello Lippi will take over. Something I'd be more than happy to see. Klinsmann isn't an awful hire, but he's a suspect gameday coach. He knows his talent, but tactics are meh.

To be honest, Jason Kreis, HC of Real Salt Lake, is a pretty good X/O's coach. Hire Klinsmann to be the HC, Kreis as assistant. Kreis will be Klinsmann's American Jogi Loew.

THIS!!!! and i agree Bradley wasn't bad for US but he took us as far as he could. no hard feelings but i'm really glad we're parting ways. We need Klinsmann in, if Gulatti doesn't give him everything he wants i think we should be calling for his head

Klinsmann is the guy.

Not really sure how I feel about that.

I'm sure I feel good about that.. Mans a legend on the pitch and has a decent record as coach of Germany..

In all honesty he is probably over-qualified for the job, but his heart is in it.. He's wanted the job for a long while. (For some reason)

He's had 3-4 years experience as a manager, 1 as a complete failure. I don't think he's overqualified for any job.

He's a complete 180 from Bradley, which obviously isn't a bad thing. But he is a bit of a dreamer. He won't have the base of talent he had in Germany and I worry a bit that results will be put aside for ideology. He probably doesn't have enough time to do what he wants before the next WC.

This is a long haul hire, no doubt about it.

Klinsmann was hired for the sole purpose of revamping the youth system, changing the way we develop our players. His monologue after the US loss to Ghana last year spoke volumes of how we may be doing this "all wrong."

We excel at basketball because it is the game of the inner-city. It doesn't take a whole lot for kids to find a basketball net and a basketball and go play. For the US to move forward, to take advantage of the massive population at hand, then it needs to seek out the inner-city and the immigrants. It's no secret that a lot of world class players in the game today came from a blue-collar almost lower-middle/lower class background.

I'm not saying that the poor are going to be ignite some kind of soccer revolution in the US. There is a fascination in this country with urban culture, and if we can make soccer part of the urban culture, then it's a step in the right direction.

Can't say I'm totally surprised. I think he did well in his tenure, but his loyalty to some players, plus a poor habit of getting his tactics wrong from the start of the match (he would always adjust at halftime) were quite annoying.

I've heard this critism alot about Bob. That he was too loyal to some players and didn't start any young players. So please tell me who are these young players that Bob didn't start? Adu, Ageduo, Torres, Lichaq, Davies, Ream? Somehow I all remember them in the lineup.

I actually think he was fired the day Davies missed curfew, crashed and his insides fell out. With Davies we were playing better footie than any USMNT ever did. He made Donovan, Altidore, and Dempsey better players and took heat off the defense.

I never said anything about giving a chance to young players. His insistance on playing guys like Bornstein, Clark, Findlay and then starting off with Gooch in the Gold Cup was just plain old stubborness and cost the team in major competitions. Guys like Bornstein and Findlay have no business near the squad and Clark was in horrible form in 2006.
