Can't say I'm totally surprised. I think he did well in his tenure, but his loyalty to some players, plus a poor habit of getting his tactics wrong from the start of the match (he would always adjust at halftime) were quite annoying.

YER FIRED.

He was fired for bringing Borstein on when Cherundolo got hurt. He should have Brought Ream on and moved Bocanegra out right.

No he moved Lichaj from left to right... and then placed Bornstein on the left. Horrid.

Borstein = YER FIRED

I'm guessing you mean put Bocanegra out left, not right. Not sure that really would have made a difference. Ream looked more than shaky in the group stages. And would an aging Bocanegra have stood up to what Mexico was bringing down the flank speed-wise?
Always felt Bob Bradley got a bit of a bad rap. Blaming everything on the coach is such a classic, knee-jerk reaction from fans. Considering what he had to work with in the U.S. Soccer power structure, he did a decent job. Won a Gold Cup, made the Confederations Cup final, made the knockout stages of the World Cup. I also thought he did a nice job expanding the player pool and bringing in new faces. Compare the number of players he used to the end of the Bruce Arena era. Remember, the likes of Jay DeMerit never got a sniff from Arena.
Maybe one World Cup cycle was enough for Bradley. I say thanks for the hard work Bob and good luck to you. I'm curious to see where he ends up. He took the program as far as he could. Now it's someone else's turn.

I always thought Bradley had done an awful lot for the Yanks, seemed pretty decent.

He was a decent coach and Bob Bradley did a lot of good for the National team. He was the coach of a team that finished 2nd in the Confed Cup, defeating Spain on the way there. That win definitely put the team in a bit bigger national spotlight, then the 1st place group finish at the WC did a bigger job as well.

However Bob's biggest problem was his loyalty to some players. Players which, in my opinion, don't have the quality to play for the National side. Bornstein, Ricardo Clark in the WC, and even Robbie Findley to an extent, are a few examples of players who probably don't have any business starting games for the US side. The Gold Cup final is a perfect example. When Cherundolo got hurt, El Tri went right after Bornstein's flank, turning it into swiss cheese. Carving paths to goal with seemingly little resistance.

His tactics were a bit suspect too, most evident by starting games poorly and then having to claw back down a goal or so. Another big indictment on Bradley's record.

I'm not going to tell you that Michael Bradley shouldn't be starting, and that his place is only due to nepotism. I, honestly, believe that regardless of who is coach for the USA, Bradley is on the team. Whether he be starting or on the bench, he is a member of the squad. There were probably some games where Edu would've been a better option than Bradley, but that argument is going to be null and void soon because Jermaine Jones isn't getting any younger and by next WC cycle I expect Bradley and Edu to be starting in the middle of the park.

Am I sad to see Bradley go? No. He needed to go after the WC. He did a good job for us, but two term national coaches don't always pan out so well. I appreciate the work he did for the team, because I like to think the squad is in a better place than when he took over for Arena.

I'm very curious to see who takes over. Andres Cantor has tweeted that he has some strong rumors that Marcello Lippi will take over. Something I'd be more than happy to see. Klinsmann isn't an awful hire, but he's a suspect gameday coach. He knows his talent, but tactics are meh.

To be honest, Jason Kreis, HC of Real Salt Lake, is a pretty good X/O's coach. Hire Klinsmann to be the HC, Kreis as assistant. Kreis will be Klinsmann's American Jogi Loew.

Agree that he was way too loyal to some guys, especially Bornstein, who I don't like at all. But I suspect that if you look at any coach in the world, fans of their team will say he's too loyal to certain players.

Problem is, some coaches in the world have wiggle room to be loyal to some. They've got a quality player on their side. We, as Americans, don't have that massive quality where we can show some loyalty. The Coach has to be "who's getting it done for me lately."

Very true. And that highlights what really is the larger problem. The current youth setup doesn't seem to be producing enough quality players for the senior national team. Bradley is an easy fall guy, but the entire U.S. Soccer setup needs to be looked at.

Something Klinsmann desperately wants to do.

I'd take him in a heartbeat if they let him have control over player development.

Appreciate what BB has done, but its time for a fresh face at the top. I have the odd feeling he lost the team since the world cup and they weren't on the same page.

Klinsmann makes so much sense that if he's not the coach I will gasp.

Good point Bigloco.

I appreciate what he's done for us as well but it was very much time for a change.
