Working on that currently.

Don't envy you Grouch. I know how much effort goes into finding the right person to speak to and then pinning them down. Hard yards them like.

I don't know your background or the missus but I've worked in sales, in various guises, for years. If I can be of help in any way feel free to shout!

I was talking more of boosting the partners business by inferring to them you'd offer an 'exclusive 10%' for all referrals. Makes them more likely to refer to you as they're getting a potential selling point when attempting to do business.

Ultimately Grouch and his missus control the price, just makes it easier to build relationships starting out!

Always, always know what price you want to sell your product for.

Saying no in sales is very powerful!

True, but asking for more and being willing to come down to the price you're happy with works for me and makes the customer feel they've had a small success. Then you make sure you deliver a quality product and you can start to up your price even more because they start to need you, more than you need them.

Always be willing to walk away though, agree with you 100% on that.

Agree with yourself and Wooly to some degree!

Company I worked for recently would always look to add value any way they possibly could rather than a price discount. Not a bad strategy at all, in the service industry especially.

;)

I took the decision when I entered business I would never discount - you either valued my products or not..........

I've lost loads of contracts because of that but I am still here :D

Understand your logic but I recently cut our costs to the bone to win a contract purely to screw up a couple of my rivals who I knew were desperate for the business. We make very little profit from it but one of the rivals has closed down as a result, another is considering it. Meanwhile I can advertise that I have this contract and have won more business on the back of it. Result...

Great idea!

I am
At first yes, but one day would prefer a "cake shop" while retaining the online side.

Have my eye on a few locations but there's only so much little old me can do without further advice now.

My area is all aspects of digital performance and acquisition so if anybody in here has an online business they are serious about growing drop me a message and we can have a chat.
