Traffic is reduced - surely it's "working"!?

If they mean that they haven't met their target figures (74,000) I would guess that they didn't account for the reduction in overall traffic levels that would arise from charging, and like with any private company that falls short of the sales figures, they'll now have to incur the financial penalties for that, and if they can't restructure then then they will face takeover from someone more competent.

Perhaps they only won the contract because they presented the most optimistic traffic numbers? When I say privatisation I mean a real "sell to the highest bidder" auction, not a State-funded giveaway like right-to-buy.

Not really attitude is it... ya know... the truth.. ha ha ...... Also I don't understand what you mean by saying 'Reason ' with people.... thy are perfectly within their rights to cycle where they want ( as long as not restricted obvs )... with all due respect sir... maybe scrutinise your own attitude firstly.

OK, let's look at the practicality of cyclists sharing traffic lanes with cars/trucks. It's never going to be easy, is it?

So, what do we do about it?

The lawmakers need to bring about regulations where the opinions of people like you and me who don't agree don't matter.

They need to make it law that neither motorists, nor cyclists can put each other at risk by doing whatever they like.

It's the cyclists who are most at risk, so, isn't it in their interest to adopt a less militant attitude? You, Kurt, seem fall into that category.

Driving a car, cyclists don't bother me that much. They're like flies at a barbecue, a nuisance. But on a shared bike/ footpath and pavement they're a ....ing menace. You know it, even though I don't think you'd be honest enough to admit it.

I could relate dozens of examples where I've been put at risk by cyclists while walking. I've never endangered a bike rider
when driving a car.
