I've always thought European refs were heavily biased to the point of almost corruption when English teams face continental opposition. Van Persies bizzare red card. Morever, they seem to be quick handing out them red cards against English teams.

Let's not forget the financial fair play rules. That was in response to English clubs being overtaken by multi billionaires. Man City and Chelsea. They wanted to protect the big clubs of Barcelona and Real Madrid and Juventus. But what they didn't realize was that this would actually benefit English clubs with the continued massive expansion of Television Sales worldwide. And so now the rules are being "relaxed".
