Does your music collection/taste favour white or black artists more?

I got asked this recently and, to my surprise, it is about 75% black (or of colour), 25% white.

I'm not taking about vinyl and the other side of the CD/Apple.

HMV should be split not between musical genres, but between "good" and "bad".

It tends to be white cross-dressing men now you mention it; Manics, R.E.M., Placebo.

I've only got one record, 7" of Ebony and Ivory. I'm really stumped.

Have a lot of what is generally termed black music. jazz, soul, blues etc. Also a lot which is heavily influenced by black music (R and B) like the Beatles, Stones, Small Faces, Steely Dan late 70s two tone stuff, The Beat, The Specials, Madness.

Then I also have stuff like Crosby, Stills and Nash, Joni Mitchell, Dylan and indie/alternative artists like Julian Cope, The Sundays and The Pixies.

Certainly a predominant black influence

Mostly white men, a few white women (Blondie, The Pretenders, Pink) I mostly like rock/punk which seems to be white male dominated. Honourable exceptions go to The Real Thing and Hot Chocolate.
