Black Cabbies - Worth it or not?

I know a few cabbies, 3 lads on the privates, one on the blacks.
The lad on the blacks paid £28 grand for his cab license and another £8 grand for a 2nd hand cab.
He left the army young and so had a lump sum to invest.
His insurance is a little over £3 grand.
He mainly works the airport and town centre, including the weekend nights but only at the end of the month. He also does airport runs.
He has 2 accounts, his own one and the one he declares to the taxman.
Nearly all cabbies are at it, if you know what I mean.
Not including the outlay for the taxi and his licence, he brings in between £1,300 to £1,800 a month but it rises to nearly £3,000 a month in July and August with the airport runs (he works a 60-70 hour week in the summer).

Now the other 3 lads.
2 of them im not close to I dont know to much, one works for delta the other for SRC.
Me other mate works for village, earns about £500 a week but is getting rid of his passat whch has been a unreliable disaster.

I think this thread is incredibly racist and should be locked immediately, do people really care what colour their cabbie is?

it will be worth it in the end mate.

its **** and hard work now, but nothing is easy.

you dont wanna be a cabbie working 60-70 hour weeks, never seeing ya bird/wife. when you will earn the same money Mon- fri with a trade, leaving you to enjoy ya weekends watching the Blues.

when i was a cabbie i never got to go the match, cos u had to work because they was busy times.

I'm a London cabbie mate. I commute weekends just working sat/sun days. If it was any good in Liverpool I would do it here. Do yourself a favour and get a real skill behind you. Look at long term not the short.

how long did it take you to get your London knowledge?

I worked for 40 years for same company and finished on a final salary pension started off brushing up and worked my way up through the ranks ,tragically for younger people this scenario will never happen again
