Evening all, need some help, London born and bred blue, I’m looking to start on a 6 month contract in and around Speke very soon, and I’m currently searching for accommodation far enough away that I won’t bump into anyone from work, but close enough than it’s an easy enough drive… what are areas I should be looking at? I feel most will be staying in the travel lodge and premier inn, need somewhere to quietly eat dinner and watch the football…was looking at hale?

Very sorry to hear this mate.

You’re close to a Speke retail park. Everything you need is there. You’re close to Sefton park, avoid lark lane for the absolute worst people who think it’s Camden of the north.

Rainhill? Premier Inn or Rainhill Hall with a short 10 mile motorway & A road drive (15 mins though longer at rush hour obviously) to Speke but just out of the way enough? Quite nice down that end as well with quite a lot of farmland / rural a few minutes walk for a relatively peaceful stroll.

Couple of pubs nearby that do food and have the football, Rainhill village a bit further up with more choice and if you want a change of scenery there's decent transport links if you wanna go elsewhere.

I stay in that one on the rainhill bypass when I'm over solo. No foot traffic so I worry about the car less and there's a beefeater right there with the A57 and the M62 30 secs away.

The matchworks Bryant and May was in Garston :), I’m from Speke it was a nice place back in the day (70s)

I worked in the Metal box it had a good social club

That's right, recall wondering exactly where Garston started because Matchworks is across the way from Speke retail park so I'd long associated it as so. S

Hale is spot on mate.
10 minutes from from where you will be working.
Semi rural with 2 pubs , loads of history and fairly quiet.
