Utter Cad.
Remember it?

Although I remember that era quite well I, strangely, can't remember much about Bingham's departure. He'd just signed McKenzie and Rioch, as I remember, which was almost taken as a sign that his position at Goodison was safe, and yet he went pretty soon afterwards. Gordon Lee came in and cards were marked almost immediately.

So, where you an active fan then? Did you want Billy to get the bullet? Was the much of a clamour for his head? Did Lee's appointment inspire? Where would we be now if BB had stayed on?

Discuss.

was only a kid at the time, and can recall a few bingham out shouts about the place, we had some right [Poor language removed] playing for us at the time. Getting gordon lee was looked upon to be a good move, he had done ok with newcastle,to be honest it was his style of footy that did for him, very like the safety first stuff we have now, he didnt come across very well but i bet his record isnt far behind the ginger fellas, bingham tried to play decent footy but was hamperd by the [Poor language removed] he had to work with.
i met lee while he was managing preston he was a nice fella not like i though he would be in real life.

I think BB had 'taken the club as far as he could', as they say, but the Gordon Lee appointment was hugely underwhelming. We had some flair players but he wouldn't let them show it. Grey period in my blue fanlife.

Good point, well made.

Apparently, at Leeds, McKenzie approached Clough in an effort to butter him up, asking "How many great players do you think there are in the First Division, Boss?" and Clough replied with "One less than you think there are, young man."

I believe he said something about 'no room for fancy dans at this club' as well.

And Brian Clough
add me as well, had about one good game out of ten, i admit it was worth the wait half the time, but a lazy shithouse of a player most of the time, didnt we get him off a anderlect, went his debut at coventry when we got beat 4-2 got a smack of a copper and spent most of the second half watching a lad goose some bird at the back of the coventry end, dont get aways like that anymore take there end and there women, well some did i never did the second bit
