Bin Lorry Crashes into Shoppers in Glasgow -At least 6 Dead

It's just terrible.

That exact spot is always pretty fall office workers and arriving/departing train passengers.

One of those terrible random tragedies, which is particularly cruel on Glasgow given the helicopter crash from last Christmas.

Exactly. They're in such a hurry to get anything out there to make their rolling ticker refresh, they'll simply report the first thing that comes to hand. It's an isolated incident and I'm quite sure the families already know, but in cases where the public are struggling to contact their families, this kind of half-truth can be seriously damaging.

Just sounds too horrible to even contemplate. Harrowing stuff, especially the last line.

Eyewitness: Lorry 'flattened bodies' on pavement
Anjan Luthra witnessed the crash. He told BBC News: "I work in George Square and had nipped out for lunch, and was in the queue in Greggs. All of a sudden I heard this screaming and quite a consistent racket.
"I ran out of the store and right directly across from me, I was just watching a very very heavy bin lorry just flatten bodies on the pavement. It was driving along the pavement and taking everything along with it, and then it went across the street.
"Immediately people started calling 999, and started directing traffic.
"There were two bodies right in the centre of the T-junction who were getting CPR mouth-to-mouth and there were some bodies that were so fatally injured that you couldn't really do anything."

.....just out shopping and this happens. Sad regardless but just hoping no kids are among the fatalities.

Not sure if those vans are automatic but it sounds like it was going some speed. Dreadful.

Three members of the same family killed amongst the 6 confirmed dead. Grandparents and their young teenage granddaughter.

Absolutely horrific.
