All this Gueye versus Bily stuff is way off. People are excited by Gueye because he has pace and he had a very good game yesterday but the fact remains Bily put three or four chances on a plate for players and as a left sided midfielder this is what I want to see. Pienaar spoilt fans by running back all the time but I don't want that from an attacking midfielder, I want someone to actually stay up and look for the chances taking the pressure of the back four rather than inviting it on.

Bily has the greatest passing range in our side, he offers something no one else in the team can and for me he should be part of the team for years to come. He probably won't be at that saddens me.

Well said. People moaned about Yak being static, but he was conserving his energy for short dynamic bursts. We don't need him chasing all over the park defending from the front. Same with Bily. As long as he generally protects Baines and doesn't loiter up front because he's too lazy to get back, that's fine. Who would criticise Le Tissier or Beckham for not tracking back? Bily has a similarly languid style. We've got workmen all over the pitch, so we can afford to accommodate someone who offers us something different. Even with being in and out of the side, his goalscoring record is something like 1 in 5. If we can give him a decent run, I think he could get into double figures for a season. Given that we're unlikely to recruit a 30 goal a season striker, that contribution could make a huge difference to us.

He will never play in the Cahill role because Moyes has 72 other players he'd rather play there first and has said so.

It seems like the side is starting to evolve naturally. Plan A would probably be:

_____Fellaini Rodwell
Coleman _________Arteta
_________Cahill
_________Saha

Whenever Maroune and Jack have played together the amount of goals that we've been conceding has reduced dramatically. Seamus has got about 5 goals from the right hand side and is capable of more assists than we've so far seen. Mikel revelled in the freedom of being moved out of the centre and should be able to cut in to shoot from the left. Until his injury Tim was going great guns.

We'd then have a couple of substitutions available. Cahill seems to be increasingly injury-prone. More than likely it's to do with his age and the demands of playing non-stop for his club and country. Rotating Bily in would save on wear and tear for Tim and would give the opposition a new problem.

It's odd that Moyes has never experimented with him there. You're right that he'd rather play Fellaini, Rodwell, Arteta or Osman ahead of him. I don't think that any of those players have Bily's eye for goal. Hopefully the gaffer will eventually catch on, as he did with using Coleman on the right, Arteta on the left and Beckford alongside Saha.

One thing I've learned in my time supporting Everton about Everton supporters.

They all have an opinion on a new(er) player, and more often than not, they have it wrong.

Not pointing any fingers at anyone. Just sayin.

Cheers to whoever gave me the negative rep because, and i quote:

'Moyes needs to give Bily more than one full start'

when he's already given him 3 since the start of the year and more than 60 minutes 3 other times as i already explained. Methinks people should do their research before throwing negative rep around in the future, whoever it was.

Not when you consider attitude. I'm not comparing their positional play - they are two players in different positions. What I am comparing is speed, decision-making ability and confidence. Gueye had that when he came on yesterday, Bily doesn't.

For those that blame Baines for Downing - take a look at The Executioner's assessment in the game thread - Bily is lax on defending. He also only beat his marker once, and lost out on the majority of his aerial challenges. This is what I mean by just a tad too slow.

Here's the difference for me - when you are a player that supporters seem to love, and who DOES get a chance to come on, you should really be BUSTING YOUR A$$. And I mean busting it. He just doesn't do that for me folks. A lot of you say you don't get the irrational critical comments. I'm on the side of not understanding the unconditional support that's gone on for the entire season. I don't think he's terrible, I just think we can do better.

Our left side has always had a problem with conceding goals, even when Baines had Pienaar busting a gut getting back for him.

Bily made three very good chances yesterday. If one of them was taken apart from the Osman goal it would have been a different end result. That's what he brings; that's what you get.

Can anyone remember Pienaar making three assists in a game?

Also to compare the left hand side to the right positionally is just daft when considering on one side you have a wing-back and an attacking midfielder, whereas on the other you have a full-back with a wing-back in in front of him.

Words of wisdom.

good points, and i think part of why osman was able to score the first goal is because the defender had one eye on bily, if you look at the replays
