Good Points:

Technique. He looks to have that important final ball and piece of magic to change a game in his locker.

Bad Points

Pace and prone to going missing.

So early thoughts on our Russian?

He lack urgency on the ball.
He lack the critical first touch that breaks him free into space away from his marker.
His crossing is getting woeful.
He's still getting use to the style and tempo of premiere league defenders.
In short, he's still learning. Pieenar had exactly the same problem when he first arrived.

another one of those players that we didnt as fans know what we were getting, apart from youtube highlights that only show his best moments. when a player wears no. 7 though, we instantly expect him to play a certain way and set the place alight.
big hopes for the lad though and my major disappointment is that they cant fit his name onto kids shirts, i spent a while talking young b.o.g. out of rodwell or pienaar ( as they would instantly leave in jan if i got a shirt with their names on) only to find that they cant fit Bilyaletdinov onto a kids kit, i'm sure it would fit with the goblet type font, failing that i'm gonna get a printer to do it with the russian lettering.

Needs to do a little bit more for me in Premier League, but put that down to him learning and still settling in. Done great for us in Europe. Another 2 or 3 months of footy under his belt, he'l be fine - i hope

I think hes a player- needs to adapt to the pace and physicality of it but I am sure he will get there.

I really think him and Pienaar alternating the wings could be superb.

I'm not sure he's a winger... Hiddink sees him as a centre mid, and I can see why.

Far too early to judge any of our new aquisitions.

All have shown they are good value on their day, and all have had an off day.

Regarding Bily, he is very different to what we already have, He started well, and immediately people set standards for him, but a few bad games and our attention is upon him.

I think Moyes had a particular role for him to play when our strongest squad is available, and I think he will turn out to be a good signing.

im torn over this fella because the things i like about him he isnt afraid to get on the ball and likes to shoot but the minus is he doesnt stay wide enough for me ( you dont hav to be a winger to do this) often he recieves the ball and then cuts in ( all of which i can understand) but the players are already coming thru the middle when he does this and doesnt seem be the type of player who when he recieves the ball try to take on the last man

but im not going to slate him or praise him in abundance at least till next yr as he needs to get up to speed with prem football week in week out and i d like to see him in our best 11

He clearly has ability and he's shown it in glimpses but he seems to have major problems with confidence. At times, he looks scared, shies away from the ball and doesn't take responsibility as a creative player.

Maybe it's because he's playing in a League that is far better than the one he's used to or maybe it's just the style of the League, the quick tempo and the fast paced games. I couldn't say, probably a combination of both.

Positionally I'm not convinced his best position is wide left either. I look at someone like Niko Kranjar and that's the type of player I want to see Bilyaletdinov develop into. Not the quickest but tons of technical ability, trickery and intelligence. But the majority of these players are central players who play outwide, usually on the opposite wing to there natural foot: Left footers on the right, right footers on the left. They can cut inside and influence the game in central positions.

As a left footer playing on the left wing, it's completely different. Because of your body positioning, the only way you can really go is down the line and that means beating opposition players. Something Bilyaletdinov seems to have trouble with.

In short, I think he'll be a good player here but I hope Moyes gives him freedom and tries him in different roles so that he can fulfill his talent and find a role in the team.

He can make and score goals, not many players can do that these days, which is why he was expensive. Quality player, will have no trouble at all once he gets settled down.

I'm convinced that he still isn't 100% sure of his role on the pitch. He is often swapping positions during games on Moyes' orders and you can tell it confuses him - the confidence isn't quite there. He's also still climatising to English football so he tends to opt for the safer option when he has the ball.

Having said that, I think he's done brilliantly well so far and his quality is undoubted. Still young as well. He certainly has a fan in me, he'll develop into a top player in this league.
