Bikes

There's already a cars thread, but I'm sure there's at least SOME bikers/bike enthusiasts here... I hope. lol

Assuming I'm right - what's your favourite/preferred bike?

I've not got one obviously, but thinking of switching from 4 to 2 wheels myself, and am currently researching good "beginner" cruisers to potentially buy. Recommendations and discussions are appreciated

The last one I rode in this country on a regular basis was one of these

Some git in a tin can went into the back of me, which didn't do the bike, or me, any good with the result that I only ride in warm climates these days.

When I retire I'm going to be a born again biker though. But not in winter when it's icy, which was is why the git went into the back of me.

I like the idea of having a bike but know ill get bored quickly so waste of money

Had a motorcross bike in my teens and a moped years ago

That looks nice.
Was looking at some 250cc Yamaha's the other day, Virago (or XV250 for the newer ones) as they're relatively cheap and not exactly the most powerful, which would suit me as a newbie rider. Then probably progress to better later on and all that.

The UK's really crap weather-wise for biking though...

Have you had a look at Suzuki Bandits? Can be had cheap and the 400cc is a great beginners bike.

Everyone I have ever known who has owned a motorbike has either fallen off it or been knocked off it. This has included a lad at school who ended up with severe spinal injuries and a good mate at University who died.

I will never own a motorbike.
