Player Valuation: £50k
The (near) return of Leighton has set me thinking about Brendan G and what he's already achieved this season.

Just a week after Bournemouth no-one is going to be claiming the defence is faultless. But given the wholesale disruption that the defence has had to cope with since season start, I'd say the general lack of wailing about our defences performances speaks for itself. Some very young (or new) players have stepped up admirably and for my money Brendan's contibution is right up there.

In ideal world I'd like to think that there could be some kind of supporter led recognition for the lad at a home game. I'm sure some would call me a misty eyed romantic who doesn't go to enough games to know how these things work - just to save time you're right on both counts - but (in my ideal world) I'd like to think we could do this.

What dya reckon?

Tbf he's a professional footballer doing his job. No extra thanks required, I'd say.

Has done a smashing job though. Does the GOT jury still think he's a future CB or could LB be his future?

....that's a really good question. It will be interesting to see him at CB in the top level. I think we can only truly judge then. He has the athleticism and pace to play there, the only doubt for me is size. Whilst he's not small and he is aggressive I'm not sure he has the bulk to deal with somebody like a Lukau. Saying that, he might be like Stones and have the class to manage more physical opponents.

Definitely a centre back. He certainly gets forward enough and his crossing ability is reasonable but I don't think his interplay is good enough for a modern full back. He has coped admirably out of position. A good chant should be enough to let a professional footballer know just how much he is appreciated I think.

I think his player of the month award is ample praise.

and justified. It will be interesting to see him at LCB .. imagine a backline that includes good ball carriers such as Holgate, Stones and Galloway .. we'd have to re-think the requirements of our midfielders then.

To be honest, I agree with the professional footballer point. I guess that in his case there just seems to be something more than averagely harsh about him losing his spot if/when that happens.

But I realise that's the job he chose.... :)

Might even see Fatty Foulds in the mix in a few years time too.

Nothing harsh about a young lad who's playing out of position losing his place to the best LB in the league.

not too sure what the whole focus is with galloway.

He was playing league one football only 2 seasons ago at 17, has stepped up two levels, out of position was expected to play at a premier league level out of the blue, all before he is 20!

If he has made mistakes, good! That's what young lads do, that is why they aren't normally in the team bar the exceptional ones. For the circumstances the lad has been briliant this season and well deserves any good things said about him. I hope this season is a sign of how good a player he can be for us in the future.
