Big heads and egos

That's what i meant to ask tbh mate glad you reminded me, if we were to sign a world class player with an ego, dya reckon he would get his head wobbled by Moyes and the Senior players or told to do one? Drenthe had class but was obviously nuts and myself personally i say no player is bigger then the club and if a player is disruptive in one way or another he should be out the door.

Once again sorry for not being clear, that's what i meant by this 'i'm not confusing having character for a big head i mean just outright bad atitudes', i should've worded it better, despite that i don't think it's an issue for us really, our players seem really confident in themselves and as a team, clearly they have personal targets like getting european football but i think each player understands that they can be the best player in the world but won't be able to display their class unless each other team member carries out their duty!

He's never had to deal with epic egos.

He does bollock players for not doing things his way or gives him ****.

Beckford was probably the closest in the past few years. And he wasn't even on the same planet as what's out there. Drenthe was a loan so I don't think he wanted to waste time on him

Good points op. but my two cents in this I reckon some of our players have ego or I prefer to call it swagger when they play. Jelavic has a calm coolness about him.

Fellaini has an imposing presence that seems to intimidate other teams. Heitinga has shades of a no nonsense snidey personality on the pitch. Peinaar also looks like he carries some swagger in his play.

Plus with captain nev we have a good blend of players and personalities that are willing to die for each other on the field it's great.

Fair points to the op. I agree and it is one of the things I love about the team and I think that moyes and neville catch a ton of crap, but get very little credit for building and managing a cohesive team and buying players that will fit, not just skills on the field, or the right price, but players that will not upset the balance.

It is the biggest reason I don't know if we will ever see Rooney in a blue shirt again. For a game or two, I think he would be great and just honored to don the kit again, but for a season or two, his head would be bound to get in the way.

I agree mate and most of the time it's a good thing.

The only time I think it costs us is in big games. You need a player with a bit off arrogance who believes he belongs on the pitch with anyone in the world.

Arteta, who for me is head and shoulders above anyone Moyes has ever signed in terms of ability, never had it. Fernandes looked like he did and Fellaini looks like he might too. These are usually the ones that stand up to be counted when it matters the most.
