Hope he has a good season and develops his potential...

Brentford have clinched the season-long loan signing of Jake Bidwell from Everton.

Bidwell, 19, returns to Griffin Park, where he caught the eye with some impressive performances while on loan last season.

The Bees spent much of the summer trying to negotiate his return but were told the left-back would not be available.

But their persistence has paid off, with Everton finally agreeing to release him.

His arrival is a massive boost for manager Uwe Rosler, who is expected to select him for Saturday’s game against Walsall.

Bidwell, who can also operate on the left of midfield, made 25 appearances for Brentford last season.

Let's get rid of more players out the club. It's been such a successful transfer window. I make that about 12 players out since May. Maybe go all out in the next few days to get the numbers down further and run a five a side team. Financially, this makes perfect sense.

Is he actually any good? I've been hearing lots about him being the next big thing for years now but he's not even close to a first team breakthrough.
The same can be said about Garbutt.

Not exactly a thorough explanation. When Baines doesn't play, Neville plays LB. The next choice seems to be Distain. Garbutt is 4th choice at a club with a shortage of LB's.
That said, if Garbutt starts tonight I will gladly eat my words.

Let's do what Davek suggests and keep them all at the club, even though some will never make the grade and the rest will play a game every now and then and of course the youngsters have no hope of progressing because the reserve and under 21 teams are already overloaded with players.

I'd be surprised if he made it into the first team for us unfortunately. The progression of kids, even ones with some rep honour pedigree, into the first team seems very hit and miss.

Not many youngsters make the grade these days.... Most academies have one or two superstars and the rest of the players revolve around them... Remember Chadwick, Schumacher, Brown....
