I'm inclined to agree. I didn't mind Saul but he wasn't one of the best characters. Perhaps if other characters like Mike and Euell (sp?) are in it, with cameos from some of the other bit part characters to tie in with BB, it might work.Think this show will be terrible!
Breaking bad was brilliant for many many reasons that wont be in this show. Saul was just a great side character to bounce off the leads.
BTW did you know.....?
His name is a clever word play. Saul Goodman = Its all good man

Yeah unfortunately I reckon you're right, will give it a go though and see how it goes, hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.
The first series was short and set the scene but it was 'were gona cook, heres a dealer, cool moment, now we can do business'Never bought this 'Breaking Bad was slow at the start' complaint. It was building a storyline, it wasn't meant to be whizz-bang action adventure.
There's a lull at the beginning of Season 4 I think, but that's about it.
I guess you must hate Mad Men then. It doesn't all have to be about plot advancement. Not all the time anyway. The stuff with Jane was to develop the fractious relationship between Walt and Jessie, and cement the differing values they harbour. The first series was short and set the scene but it was 'were gona cook, heres a dealer, cool moment, now we can do business'
The second series was 'were not cooking anymore, sister in law a shoplifter?!, JEssie has a girlfriend, GF turns out predictably to want the opposite of walt and then a plane crashes because of said relationship. NOTHING ADVANCES THE PLOT EXCEPT FOR THEM MEETING GUS! sorry for the caps but point is thats all you can take out of series 2 thats relevant, that and something else from the end of series 2 with Skylar but the whole GF bit is hardly mentioned again, including Jessie never knowing the secret.
Never seen mad men lolI guess you must hate Mad Men then. It doesn't all have to be about plot advancement. Not all the time anyway. The stuff with Jane was to develop the fractious relationship between Walt and Jessie, and cement the differing values they harbour.
The writers were always keen to ensure a balance between overall plot, and character development.
Never seen mad men lol
The different values they had were completly different to that i think. Jessie was in the drug business and Walt wanted to get in, so the goody two shoes met the wannabe gangster and wanted to enter his world. Jessie's values then developed when he realised what world he was actually being dragged into and wanted the GF and the money and to go back to when he was a jumped up teenager. Later on he talks about his talent and the regret all swarms in, leading to eventually him getting out altogether.
Walts motives were power and the mild mannered teacher who was unhappy with his mundane life suddenly could see what prize was in front of him and he chased it no matter the obstacle.
The two characters only clash through the conflicting nature of their values, not by disagreeing. So walt overall manipluated Jessie to be part of his push to power and jessie was still the teenager who was wrapped up in a world he hadnt comprehended and the small pockets of the real world away from it kept disapearing in front of him.
