'Pans Labyrinth' is a war movie.
'Sink the Bismark' is a good old fashioned British war film.
'Ice cold in alex' same.
'The Hill' is an awesome war movie - if you havn't seen it, find it, a true gem.
'Gallipoli'.
'The good the bad and the ugly'.
'The hunt for red october'
'Crimson tide'.
There is a really old Lee Marvin film about a Jap and a Yank stranded on an island in the pacific. I forget the name but thats a good film too.
'The great escape' has to get a mention.

Bingo, right there, you lost all credibility. Crimson Tide, is one of THE worst military movies of all time. There are a million things wrong with it, and not just from my point of view as a submariner, but just as a military enthusiast.

War films are one of my least favourite genres personally but where eagles dare and the first half of full metal jacket are classic.

Cannot believe not one person has mentioned a film starring John Wayne FFS.

The Duke.

FFS.

Unbelievable how some don't know their film history.

The searchers was ace. When he cut out that indian's eyes so he couldnt get to heaven, great stuff. I mention this because i dont like war films but love westerns. So screw the thread title, i play by my own rules.

"Saving Private Ryan" is my favorite war movie. Like everyone else, I love "Band of Brothers" too.
If you expand the time frame back to the Civil War, I've always enjoyed "Glory."

Yeah. And 'Dirty Harry' was a real life representation of all cops.
