Johnny Heitinga, Lucas Neill and Tony Hibbert have all been a bit hit and miss this season.

Seamus Coleman has been very promising, but he's only played twice at right back. It'll be interesting to see if he gets a run and how he does. In terms of style, he's the closest to what we need.

The most profound and nail on the head comment I have read on here for a long while.

Style, what we need. Exactly.

We have players who can do a job, but what we need is someone who fits the style of what a right back should be in the Premier League, and how much £150k? another bargain?

That's defintely true and he did put in a great show. However getting by that Twilight extra is one thing, Chelsea next week is another story. We saw what happened to Gosling et. al when they got the start. That's why I wouldn't start him at least for a little while let him come on as a sub where his freshness might give him a step advantage over other players.

Or play him from the start and allow his momentum and quite obvious confidence shine through. He's 20, he's not a teenager, and he has the confidence to go at players, and he can put in a tackle.

Future legend me thinks.

For now, Neill but in time, Coleman could / should be number one. His fearlessness against Spurs was a joy top behold.

Seamus is 21 - you've got Rodwell and Gosling who are only 18 and 19 respectively playing regular football.

Arsenal -

Alex Song = 22
Johann Djourou = 22
Samir Nasri = 22

These 3 have been regulars for a couple of years

Then you have...

Carlos Vela = 20
Theo Walcott = 20
Denilson = 21
Aaron Ramsey = 18
Armand Traoré = 20
Nicklas bendtner = 21

Either regulars or getting their chance to prove themselves.

Similarly at United albeit on a lesser scale

Jonny Evans = 21
Anderson = 21

Play the lad I say

Agreed. But wish some would realize that Coleman's only played three games so far (Benfica, AEK & Spurs) - no need for idolatry just yet.

Coleman on current showings. Great potential. The excitement he generates stirs up the crowd (didn't someone say the atmosphere at GP was lacking lately). He is also showing others around him what can be done when you play with confidence. Hopefully we will see others improve their game due to the 'Coleman Effect'

Neville is our best right back until his return from injury or Coleman playing more than 5 minutes prove otherwise.

Hibbert is still ahead of Neill for me, on current form at least.

Neville
Hibbert
Neill
Coleman

Next season that list could be reversed but as things stand I believe Moyes would rely on the names in that order.

I Couldnt spilt Neill and Colemen so i voted Neill but it was a biased vote.

As far as I am concern the RB choice we have at Everton are Coleman, Neill and Hibbert.

For me I would rate them this way as a RB:-

Experience:
1. Neill 2. Hibbert 3. Coleman

Acceleration & Pace:
1. Coleman 2. Neill 3. Hibbert

Positioning:
1. Hibbert 2. Neill 3. Coleman

Potential:
1. Coleman 2. Hibbert 3. Neill

Crossing:
1. Coleman 2. Neill 3. Hibbert

Marking & Tackling:
1. Hibbert 2. Neill 3. Coleman

Heading:
1. Neill 2. Coleman 3. Hibbert

General Ability (Technique, Dribbling, First Touch, Composure)
1. Coleman 2. Neill 3. Hibbert

Passing:
1. Coleman 2. Neill 3. Hibbert

Attribute (Determination & Aggression):
1. Coleman 2. Hibbert 3. Neill

Some of these rating changes as age increase, but this is how I sees it at the moment and as you could see each of them has something better than each other.

But when it comes to the RB position I would have to say sorry to Hibbert he would be third in the pecking order, he simply not shown he is able to play at the level we want him to be at, consistently.

On a defensive level and experience without a doubt Neill is better than Coleman & Hibbert. But when you look at it, in term of attacking ability whilst, Coleman is way better than Neill & Hibbert.

Also, his defensive ability is not far behind Neill & Hibbert and no offences intended to Neill and Hibbert but in term of age wise, there life as a top flight RB are no more than 2~3 seasons left.

Coleman who is only 21 is more than probably going to become an even better player over the next 2~3 years, I could see Coleman as our first choice RB in the near future and not to forget he could easily be playing RB for us, for the next 10 years or so.

In term of development for Coleman we need to give him more playing time and I would give a rotate appearance between Neill and Coleman, so, Coleman would get 2~3 starting appearance each month.
