Who would you play at right back, assuming that everyone's fit, and bearing in mind who you'd want to play in other positions ?

If he plays like that all the time, Seamus Coleman. First time in a long time we've had a RB who is prepared to run down the wing, put a cross in, go past a player, and wasnt too shabby at the back either. It was exciting to see. Although it doesnt seem so right now, slowly but surely the squad is filling out. Grow some balls Moyes, play the lad vs Chelsea, we know Hibbo cant cope with Anelka/Cole or whoever else they may play (proved in the Cup final), surely he deserves a crack. I'd love to see him skin that cashley cole too.

Johnny Heitinga, Lucas Neill and Tony Hibbert have all been a bit hit and miss this season.

Seamus Coleman has been very promising, but he's only played twice at right back. It'll be interesting to see if he gets a run and how he does. In terms of style, he's the closest to what we need.

I'm sure Coleman will get his chance but I'm not sure if away to Chelsea is the place to start him. I'd hate to see him given another rough ride like he had in Benfica and have his confidence shaken again. Then again, a good performance against Chelsea would do wonders for him... Hmmmm.

I think I'd go with the experience of Neill or Hibbert if possible.

The answer is Tommy Wright. I fear we'll get Sandy Brown...

Seriously, the boy Coleman played very well on Sunday and appears to be finding his feet. He'll be up against Cole and Cole at Chelsea so will have a hard game whatever. In the euphoria of rescuing a point yesterday, nobody's mentioned his baptism of fire at the (real) Stadium of Light. He got skinned in the first minute and struggled all game, I thought. I'm not sure if he can produce week in week out - too early to call.

On the other hand, we know Hibbo will struggle.

Also on the other hand, we've got little choice atm...

On the other....there is no other hand. Play him!

i think coleman deserves his shot from the start and if he ****s it up over the course of a few games then we know he isnt ready yet but i dont think he could be much worse than our current options

We need to hold back our joy for Coleman a little here, and look upon his good performances as simply promising.

It's easy to get carried away with a good performance, but we need 38 good performances from the lad, and that will be a lot to ask.

Let's not raise him too high, as it would be unfair for the lad to have to fall from such a great height should he have a baddy.

Hibbert for me is still our number one, as Neill hasn't proved anything, and Heitinga will probably never see that position.

I see Coleman eventually coming into the fold, but it will probably be a few seasons down the line before he becomes number 1.

Think we're stuck with a bunch of right backs that are gradually not fitting in with the modern game IMO.

Hibbert, Neil and to a point Heitinga are old school right backs.

The modern game is about wing backs that get up and down - which is why some wingers end up in the full back position nowdays.

The only modern ring wing back is the wet-behind the ears Coleman. On the left is Baines.

Other than that....it's a toss up between Neil and Hibbo as I see Heitinga as our new DM.

I think its too early to say Coleman, it'd be too easy after yesterdays performance, but if that was to go buy then he'd be my first choice without a doubt. I think Heitinga should be playing centre mid or centre back, hes good on the ball but doesnt have much pace. I dont think Neill is that great and same could be said of Hibbert. I chose Neville, I'd rather have him at RB and Heitinga CM rather than the other way round.

80mins of football and everyones convinced Colemans the best RB haha. He did extremely well last night but lets not get ahead of ourselves. ATM Neill should be the 1st choice RB imo.
