Best Players to never win a trophy?

Carlos Valderrama came to mind but he won a French cup with Montpellier. Deserved more. More trophies that is, not more French cups with Montpellier.

I registered Feb 10, just prefer to read more than write. Only post when something gets under my skin.

Don't know whether you were going for ironic with your LD comment or whether you really believe it. But Eurosnobs are rampant in the US, so you being from Ohio doesn't really clear anything up.

I'm with you brother. He is one bad euro snob.

:D

You obviously don't read to much considering I have been posting on these forums for awhile.. Always backing the Americans etc.
My Comments about LD were nailed on.. Greatest U.S. Soccer player of our generation wasting away in a sh!t league..

Do you enjoy watching Landon Donovan run circles around MLS defenses? I don't.

I'm a huge LD fan and any yank for that matter.. He needs to up his game is the chief ****ing point I was trying to make.

We were talking a bit about ambition versus loyalty in the Rooney thread.

And I thought about all the great players who never won trophies because they stayed at gash clubs.

Tom Finney, one of Englands greatest ever players, never won anything because he stayed loyal to Preston. Same with Johnny Haynes at Fulham and Matt le Tissier at Southampton. George Camsell, who scored 59 league goals the year before Dixie got his 60 and scored 18 in 9 games for England, never won a trophy because he stuck with Boro and neither did his team mates Mannion and Elliott. Gordon Turner could have been a great but he stayed his whole career at Luton town.

And then there's the players who left looking for success and never found it. Tony Currie never won anything, nor did Gerry Hitchens, Don Givens, Stan Bowles, Brett Angell, all sorts of greats.

So go on, who do you think is the best player to win the same number of trophies as Tony Hibbert?

england v Switzerland
