I watched the Hobbit. Very very disappointing. LOTR best movie ever made. How they could get the Hobbit so wrong is baffling

Actually another writer has taken up continuing the series. Forget his or the books name. Will be interesting to see how well it does, given the originals' popularity, as while the stories were good, I was felt they weren't particularly well written.

It's actually pretty easy when you hear of all the stuff that happened behind the scenes. Peter Jackson wanted nothing to do with directing it, Guillermo Del Toro was set to direct. He pulled out with like 4 months before shooting began. The LOTR movies were planned and sets were being put up FOUR YEARS before they even shot a single scene. The studio told Jackson they needed him to direct, he wanted to do 2 movies. They intervened and made it 3 adding in the Evangaline Lilly plot and other really dumb things.

tl;dr: either Jackson made it relatively crappy or it not ever get made.
