Star Wars 1977

First time I ever went to a movie theater. Went with my Dad. Greatest experience of my life - and that experience is why I am such a fan of movies, science fiction, space, collecting memorabilia, reading and everything else. It shaped my life.

Carlito's Way (sitting far too near the front - made it seem hyper-real).

Heaven's Gate (massive box office disaster but very underated film with great visuals)

Star Wars for me as well. Like being parachuted into another world as a kid. Don't think I've ever been more excited when Empire came out as well.

More recently Whiplash had me physically exhausted by the end and finally seeing Blade Runner on the big screen, even though I knew it inside out was a slice of heaven for me.

Also Goodfellas, first 18 certificate I snuck into underage.

Love the flicks me.

Yeah - Star Wars was the game changer for me, and Empire Strikes Back took it to another level. Trying to describe the Star Wars phenomenon between 1977 and 1983 to anyone who was not around at that time is difficult. Yes it still huge today, but the movies were better then, there was no internet, twitter, spoilers etc. etc....it was quite incredible.

Many other movies since have made the cinema going experience for me memorable - LOTR, Goodfellas, Aliens, Dances With Wolves, Interstellar, Scarface, The Shawshank Redemption, Deadpool, The Kings Speech, The Usual Suspects - many, many more fabulous movies. I just picked random movies from random genres to point out that I love all genres if the movie is great.
