Best car I’ve ever driven.....

I’ve never driven one but the BMW 1 Series M Coupe is a modern classic. They were £40k new in 2011 but they can go for over £60k now for a 9 year old car and prices are still rising.

It’s got something like 340bhp which is ludicrous for a car that size. They must be incredible to drive.

Had a british racing green V12 Daimler for a while, purred along and looked great, but was a total pig to work on and @15mpg it had to go.
Also had a V8 SD1 Rover, sacked off the 1950s era tech SU carbs for 2 twin choke webers off old escorts from the scrappy. Put on a slightly dubiously modified stainless steel exhaust. Sounded great...pity about the rest of the BL built car. But that arl 1950s based aluminium engine was and still is a thing of magnificence...if only Triumph had put it in the s
Stag.

A kiwi guy did put one on a Mk I cortina though to go rallying

Now I’ve done all the top of the range cars and the absolute luxury cars ( apart from from a Rolls for my sins) but for me the best car I’ve ever owned, and it could be just down to my current situation, is my Range Rover. I’ve been through snow , mud , deep water and crap land, and my granddaughter and I enjoy the school trip everyday because of it.....I’m sure it will, but nothing so far has even got close to cancelling a trip.....
Can we have a thread for toffs

Or chauffeurs

The Rover/Buick V8 is a great little engine. Been a staple of the hot rod scene over here and has been stuffed into pretty much any vehicle youcan think of from Ford Pops to Transit vans.

I've driven a handful of Ferrari's and McLaren's, but the most enjoyable were both F360 variants, one being the 360 Scuderia and the absolute best being the 360 Challenge Stradale Spider with manual gearbox - incredible fun!

The most enjoyable drive I’ve ever had was at Oulton Park in a single seater race car for a track day experience. I think it was similar to a Formula Ford and only a 1.6 engine but it was so light it stuck to the corners like glue and was a blast to drive.

I’d thoroughly recommend a single seater over the more common supercar experiences as they’re more fun and you get the whole car to yourself so don’t have some instructor telling you to slow down, just stewards waving their arms around furiously.
