Could be worth financially more than 40million for us with the new BT deal.
Its also far easier to attract quality players.
The financial benefits are massive however, a game changer with the new tv deal

It's not as simple as that though. Lets say we sign three top players with that windfall. If they're on around 75k a week, then that is nearly £12 million in wages a year just on those three. If we didn't qualify for the CL the following season we'd be forced to sell those players on again, putting us back where we were.

Man Utd and Arsenal gained because they were in it regularly. That's why Spurs and Newcastle haven't progressed.

hope we can make it into CL
lets trash arsenal!!

To be honest, I think the real benefits come when you're regularly in it. I mean, did CL participation for one season really help Spurs a great deal? They still seem in a similar kind of position to us.
This.

Plus you have to do reasonably well to make decent money as we saw under Moyes 4th then getting blown out means very little.

So it wold be worth entering, in your opinion? ;)

Of course, and I'm not denying that. But first we have to be in it to be in it regularly. But the financial windfall from CL would hopefully be enough to
1: Maintain our financial stability
2: Provide our manager with funds to keep us challenging for Europe in the league
3: Help us to push on hopefully to win trophies.
4: Encourage Bill to back Martinez

The other thing that can't be underated is the role that this has in the promotion of our club on a global stage.
That means more supporters and as a result more jerseys sold.
It also enhances the chance of the club being sold to buyers who because we have europe see us as a potential investment, which is where the new stadium would hopefully come from. Admittedly a lot of what we deal with are potential outcomes, but for me there are significant benefits of CL football, if only European nights at Goodison

Would people rather go out in the 2nd round to a team like Real or finish third in the group, and have a brilliant run and maybe win the Europa League?

I'd love the second personally.

True, but they have more money than us anyway. The CL money would make a bigger difference to us than it did to them I think.

I think the biggest advantage comes from building up our reputation. Being in CL and being talked about through the week on tv, in print etc will do a lot to raise our status in the general football fan's mind. People say that financially one season of CL football did nothing for Spurs but how often are they talked about as part of a 'top 6' select group in the media when they've done pretty much nothing apart from that one season. It's not just for vanity that this is good, it translates into having more televised matches, more lucrative sponsorship deals, more global fans, etc. Yes it's all a load of [Poor language removed] but it has very real consequences.

Our media status is sort of teetering between midtable (soton/newcastle) and "top 6" - CL qualification would put us firmly into the top group.
