This.To be honest, I think the real benefits come when you're regularly in it. I mean, did CL participation for one season really help Spurs a great deal? They still seem in a similar kind of position to us.

Of course, and I'm not denying that. But first we have to be in it to be in it regularly. But the financial windfall from CL would hopefully be enough toIt's not as simple as that though. Lets say we sign three top players with that windfall. If they're on around 75k a week, then that is nearly £12 million in wages a year just on those three. If we didn't qualify for the CL the following season we'd be forced to sell those players on again, putting us back where we were.
Man Utd and Arsenal gained because they were in it regularly. That's why Spurs and Newcastle haven't progressed.
To be honest, I think the real benefits come when you're regularly in it. I mean, did CL participation for one season really help Spurs a great deal? They still seem in a similar kind of position to us.
