Anyone else watching?
Drooling over Axel Witsel and Eden Hazard, here. It's interesting to see Fellaini and Howard on different sides of the ball, but I much prefer seeing them together at Everton. Please don't go, Felli.

...aaaaand Fellaini just got subbed off. Solid 60 minutes from Fellaini. He showed good touch and good quality in the air. He even managed a few good attempts at goal.

Howard has looked very good, but has had far too much to do. Belgium were always going to score, but perhaps Howard could have done better on the goal.

I wonder how all the Bradley haters are liking the results so far.

I think it was time for a change but if anyone thought it was gonna be all peaches and cream, they were wrong.

I always wondered why everybody always said we need more of an attacking style and so Bradley had to go. Maybe the style wasn't that all pleasing to the eye (well it was pleasing to the eye before Davies splattered his insides on the freeway) but there was never a shortage of goals under Bradley. The problem was that we couldn't defend. So we bring in said attacking coach, and we can't score. Ironically the defense looks a bit better though.

Never a Bradley hater but it was time - WC had just ended, USMNT not getting any younger. If you're going to embark on a rebuilding process (which the US certainly is), think it's proper that there be a new brain at the helm to have 2-3 years to sort out what there is, try to improve the National program from the ground up and see what can be done.

Pretty clear that players like Shea and Torres are going to be the anchors of the new USMNT with players like Dempsey, Donovan, Bocanegra not being counted on to be the stars but the glue, role players.

I was a Bradley hater at the end. He should have left after the first 4. Was never going to get better than that for him. The program was getting stale. Bradley was a student of Arena, Arena was in for 8 years. Bradley 4.5...that's 12.5 years of the same influence on a team. It got us as far as it could. Time to move on past the ex-college coaches. For those that played in college in the US you know what I mean.

Had Bradley stayed we would have seen a 4-5-1 in these games with the same results. We just would have looked worse. We don't have a true goal scoring forward(Altidore is awful) and that's really hurting us.

Klinsmann is the right guy to reshape the program. But there's going to be a transition period with ugly results. I was not a Bradley hater, except when he insisted on continuing to play Ricardo Clark. I'll never understand that.

Not sure about Torres. That was a complete and utter crap the bed performance in the World cup. Plus if/when Holden is healthy he's going to be our attacking CM.

Learnings:
1) Clint Dempsey is not a CAM. He needs to be fed by the CAM. Holden I think goes where Torres is, so we're still missing a CAM - Adu????? I think Klinsmann is going to persist in playing Landon there, we will see how it turns out.
2) Brek Shea = Europe in the making. I'm now convinced.
3) Please for the love of everything holy, no more Castillo, Rogers or Orozco-Fiscal. In particular no more Rogers. Clueless and too slow out right. Done.
4) Please call up Omar Gonzalez.
5) Is Tim Ream ever going to play? Three call-ups, three not making the 18. Bad news for him.
6) Sacha didn't get much time, Spector got no time. Maybe Jurgen finally realizes they are not good enough.
7) For all that Chandler looked EXTREMELY uncomfortable out left, he defended well against Hazard, just couldn't get forward. A keeper.
8) We are blessed to have Tim Howard (loved when he stopped Fellaini's shot).
9) Loved watching Beckerman and Fellaini on the pitch together. HAIR! (One blog poster wondered if Fellaini was part of the Belgian grounds crew's plans to keep up the stadium since his hair is an instant mop. Hee!)
10) Torres is solid in the middle, but still wasn't aggressive attacking. Hope Holden gets better (Jurgen going to see him play this week).
11) Jozy looks better, but is still stranded on an island. Wondering if we are ever going to try the 4-4-2.
12) We still cannot create bupkus without (in-form) Landon Donovan on the pitch.

Seems like this is Jurgen's preferred formation for now:
Shea - Altidore - [pacey winger]
Donovan - Torres
Edu/Beckerman
[pacey fullback] - Boca - Goodson - Dolo/Chandler

Problematic, cause I don't know where that leaves Clint Dempsey - up top? He has said before he doesn't like to be a target striker.

As a result, wondering what our formations will look like in October.

Still willing to give Jurgen time - clearly we need to work on penetrating the final 1/3.
